The inviting rumble makes the puppies seem to snap to life again. One tackles the other, burying his face against his brother before they run off a little bit ahead, barking. They'll be back when she calls for them, but they'll never truly be far from her due to how they've been raised.

It's then that a tingling feeling comes to her when she remembers that talk. There's a kind of warmth coming from him that is quite...different from the warmth the Shuck had radiated. Well, warm for the dog of death anyway. The Shuck had treated her kindly because she had treated him with the reverence Death deserved.
Some part of her was starting to think she should treat this lion the same way.
"Forgive my starin', I hadn't been quite expectin' you to talk, m'lord. It's not every day one comes across a talkin' animal, even in th' land of th' fae."
