Name: Ashitaka | [personal profile] cursedarrows
Race: Human
World Information: Princess Mononoke | Canon Information

Summarize- Ashitaka's people were nearly wiped out generations ago, and only a select few remain in a village in the mountains, where the bloodline is slowly dying out. Ashitaka was one of the few young men -- and the last of the noble family -- remaining, and now he is dead to his clan. Around the mountains, the world is changing and technology is slowly evolving; Ashitaka seems almost archaic even with other Japanese. The land itself is at war; the Emperor is almost a figurehead, determined to live forever, not seeming to care how his country is falling apart around him. He grants pardons even for the crime of killing a god.

In the world near Tatara-Ba, where most of the movie takes place, humans are engaged in a war with the forest gods . . . and are winning, due to their advances in technology. The forest gods and their bloodlines are growing weaker, evolving merely into common animals. Both humans and the forest gods seek revenge -- the anger of which can turn them into demons.

Gods and demons and spirits exist strongly in this world. Gods are generally in the form of beasts too large to be natural, able to speak and sometimes with variants in form like two tails. They are to be honored, respected, though not necessarily to be worshipped. The greatest of them have power over nature; the lesser ones are incredibly strong and intelligent. Demons reek of corruption, and contact with them creates impurity that can decay and destroy the body and the earth. Spirits are creatures who have never been god, demon, or human; they exist as part of nature.
Personal Information: Here.

Issues to Be Explored: Ashitaka was charged to "see with eyes unclouded by hate." He barely understands what that means. So far he has managed to separate himself from the conflict in SP, which allows him to keep his righteousness, but it is doubtful that he will always maintain that.

Beyond that . . . Ashitaka has suffered a deep loss that he has never explored. He is dead to his clan; he can never return to them, even if he were cured. This happened because of a choice he made to kill a god-turned-demon in order to protect his village. Though the movie never addresses it, there must be a great deal he has left behind, and there is a kind of weight that hangs around him.

Eventually I may seek some help with his arm, but I will probably explore other venues first, as I do not want it to be too easy for him.
Religious Affiliation: Ashitaka very much respects god, demon, or spirit alike. He does not necessarily worship any of them, but it is of utmost importance to him that he give them honor.
Plot: At the moment, no.
Stipulations: Ashitaka would prefer that his privacy be respected, even though I don't think he would be angry if any information slipped out.
Tagging: Yep.
