Earth - only vampires and all the bad things exist. there is no evidence of God or angels, but there are churches, etc. A character close to Godric believed in God though. It made his death easier.

2000 year old vampire Jesus is the easiest explanation. He's never known salvation or kindness. As a human, he was a slave, beaten by his master and turned at the age of sixteen. His Maker was cruel and only tried to stifle him. Eventually Godric killed him and was exiled for around 500 years in which he took to the woods and forests of Northern Europe. He goes crazy from the loneliness and eventually turns a Viking man about to die, who he stalked. They then spend the next near thousand years doing really bad things because they good. At some point, Godric doesn't see the point any more, but after nearly 2000 years of killing and blood and destruction, there isn't much for him. He gives himself up to the Church of Sun to sacrifice himself, only his Childe goes after him, he's saved, but ends up killing himself instead.
Issues to Be Explored: He really wants forgiveness, but thinks he's undeserving of it. He did change his ways, but everything he's done (and it's much darker in the books), he thinks he can't be redeemed. Before he dies, he has a conversation about God. He asks Sookie how she thinks God will punish him. She says God doesn't punish, he forgives, and he tells her that he doesn't deserve it, but he hopes for it.
Pretty much I took him right at the point where the Sun takes him. So he never had an after life. He's given up on being redeemed here in the Port and is still suicidal, for the most part. He knows it's pointless here. So he's just trying to find some good, only living with Eric isn't helping.
Religious Affiliation: He believes now, but he's not exactly devout. Plot: Eric is selling vampire blood and Godric is trying to stop it, to no avail. Stipulations: He can't mention the blood thing since not many people know about it and Lord only knows what would happen to Eric. Tagging: Yup.
